The Wolseley, Piccadilly, London.

http://www.thewolseley.com/breakfast

The Wolseley is one establishment that understands the importance of breakfast! The place is open throughout the day for all meals of the day including a well known afternoon tea, however, I particularly, am impressed with the breakfast menu. It's worth making a reservation as this place gets really busy and is famed for it's opulence which is another factor that draws in so many people; a special place for a special treat! As soon as you walk in, you feel as though you are back in the times of imperial Europe in all its grandeur.

The Breakfast Menu: http://thewolseley.assets.d3r.com/pdfs/original/254-cafe-web.pdf

As you can see, the place offers everything you can imagine on a typical European menu. :) I personally, tried the French Toast with blueberries and creme fraiche as well as a Mozart (hazelnut liqueur, long espresso, hot chocolate, with creme chantilly and almond flakes) to drink; very delicious indeed and highly recommended!

This place is a definite must try and I do look forward to your comments on how you found it when you went for a visit.

'Til next time mes amis...

Bon appétit! xx

Lantana Cafe, London.

http://www.lantanacafe.co.uk/menu_brunch.html

One glorious, spring morning, I met with my breakfast buddy to have our catch up, but this time, I had requested for her to choose the venue for where we were going to eat breakfast. She gave me a choice of three places, but having left the final decision to her, I was informed that we would meet at 10.30am at Lantana Cafe. I had never heard of this place before, but I trust her taste so went with it. For certain, I was not disappointed.

This cafe is owned, I believe, by Australians who as I have mentioned before love their cafe culture. Please read my article: http://bestlondonbreakfasts.wordpress.com/2012/08/01/workshop-coffee-co-clerkenwell-london/

It has a buzzing and friendly atmosphere once you actually get inside the cafe (there is generally a queue to eat there as it has become so popular!) and the service is surprisingly friendly, as Australians have unfortunately earned themselves a reputation for being rather forthright, in general. :) I have to say that the people I met there were lovely!

Most importantly, the food and coffee was great! You can smell the wafts of freshly brewed coffee as you walk in and this place is famed for its' flat whites (famous coffee loved by Australians and New Zealanders, I am told!). This coffee was perfect:

I had the 'Toasted Banana Bread with spiced mascarpone and fresh passionfruit along with a perfectly poached egg on the side. Absolutely delicious! This cafe should definitely have a place on your 'to try' list. :)

As always, do let me know how you found it...!

'Til next time guys...

Bon appétit! xx

The Modern Pantry, Clerkenwell, London.

http://www.themodernpantry.co.uk/

Good day folks!

Thank God it's Friday today, right? This can mean only one thing; time for me to recommend to you a fantastic place for breakfast/brunch for tomorrow morning!

I first went to the Modern Pantry with ... you guessed it, my breakfast buddy! The restaurant has a very calm, serene and distinct European feel to it. A large variety of rich, delicious breakfast options to try, this is a place you can revisit time and time again and never get tired of. Full of light, open spaces and private corners, the decision is yours on the type of atmosphere you need to create or prefer to enjoy.

When I was there, I tried the poached eggs on toast with pan fried haloumi, spinach, slow-roasted, vine ripened tomatoes. Very satisfying indeed. There is also a great range of drinks from which to choose. The passionfruit, orange, banana and honey smoothie was just delicious!

Here is the link for the menu:

Give it a go and as always, let me know how you enjoyed it!

'Til next time...

Breakfast at The Caramel Room, Berkeley Hotel, Knightsbridge

http://www.the-berkeley.co.uk/The_Caramel_Room.aspx

food menu - http://www.the-berkeley.co.uk/uploadedFiles/Caramel_room_breakfast.pdf

I have always been a massive fan of 5 star hotels no matter where they are in the world as they are known to provide a quality of service and ambience that no other environment can generally offer. Having tried various places for breakfast with my breakfast buddy, we decided to 'splash out' as we were about to celebrate my birthday in luxury style. The Berkeley Hotel is a very special hotel; elegant and stylish (with a rooftop swimming pool!), located in the heart of one of London's most affluent areas, Knightsbridge, and opposite Hyde Park, one really could not ask for more.

The Berkeley is famed for it's Marcus Wareing Restaurant that has been awarded 2 Michelin Stars but we'll save that for another time and for another meal of the day. :) (Please visit http://londoneateries.wordpress.com/ for other restaurants that I have recommended and when I do go to Marcus Wareing, I will be sure to feature it on there as well.)

In the meantime, breakfast at The Caramel Room is the type of breakfast that you would want to go and eat for a special treat - be it for a birthday or the celebration of any special occasion, you will not be disappointed. Excellent quality food and service are part and parcel of the deal! A great way to start your day in plush surroundings with an unparalleled ambience, it's like being on holiday any time of the year.

My breakfast buddy and I wanted to try the Japanese breakfast, for the heck of it, :) but we are going to do that when we go back next time. We decided that we were probably not hungry enough, nor in the right frame of mind for that experience so we opted for the more 'traditional' options. I tried the Belgian Waffles with seasonal fruits and maple syrup and I tell you, it was just super! I highly recommend it!

So dear readers, if you have a special occasion coming up or you just want to celebrate being alive or indeed, spend some hard earned cash, go and savour a delightful breakfast at The Caramel Room in The Berkeley Hotel!

Don't forget to tell me how it was! :)

'Til next time...

Bon appétit! xx

Breakfast at Giraffe (restaurant chain across the UK)

http://www.giraffe.net/classic/menu/breakfast

Another successful start to a Saturday morning in February 2012, with my 'breakfast buddy' after my winter holiday blues. Giraffe is a chain of restaurants in the UK that has a very fun and casual style of menu. The perfect place for a relaxed, family meal; not too pricey and a very friendly atmosphere. Just the perfect place to cheer me up! :)

For breakfast, I chose to try:

Brioche French Toast - with apple compote, greek yoghurt, strawberries & maple syrup

Not overly sweet, perfectly made and very satisfying and tasty indeed!

My favourite menu at Giraffe is the Breakfast/Brunch menu. Maybe try it for yourselves this weekend and let me know how it was? :) You will not be disappointed!

'Til next time...

Bon appétit! xx :)

Maison Blanc, Holland Park, London.

Maison Blanc was originally conceived as a patisserie by the French chef, Raymond Blanc. I have tried the cakes there which are absolutely delicious but I had never tried breakfast there. There are currently 14 Maison Blanc restaurants in the UK. Generally, I do my research and book the table well in advance as I like to make sure that I am going to the best restaurants for breakfast, but this particular time, we decided to 'go with the flow' and decide on the day.

So, one wintery, Saturday morning in February, we met at Holland Park tube station and I soon found myself having breakfast with my breakfast buddy at Maison Blanc in Holland Park. We had wanted to go somewhere low key and classy; luckily, this place delivered!

I tried the Eggs En Cocotte with Wilted Spinach. The eggs were beautifully baked, the spinach perfectly wilted and a lovely thick hollandaise sauce on tasty, artisan bread from the Maison Blanc bakery. Mouth watering and very satisfying.

There's nothing better than having a warm, hearty breakfast on a cold, winter's morning and I would definitely recommend this place. Give it a try and as always, let me know how it was! ;)

Awaiting to hear your opinions.

Bon appétit! xx

Workshop Coffee Co., Clerkenwell, London

Good morning readers!

2 weekends ago, it had been 4 years since I had seen my dear, Parisian friend who also loves breakfast, just like me, so I took her out to try this fabulous café-cum-restaurant in Clerkenwell, Farringdon.

Initially known as St Ali, another one of my loveable friends from Melbourne, whom I had met while I was out in Australia travelling for 5 months in 2010, recommended the restaurant to me when she came to visit me in London last year. It was a sister branch from the same city and has since been rebranded to Workshop Coffee Co. and it still has a definitive, Melbournian feel to it.

Melbourne is well known for it’s café culture and this has certainly been ‘exported’ to London so aptly that you feel like you are back there in Oz, enjoying this culture the Melbournians have made their own.

For brunch, there are a variety of amazing options and I chose to go for the ‘Brioche French toast, poached English rhubarb and blood orange mascarpone’ topped off with a poached egg. Highly satisfying, filling and most importantly, delicious. The place is also renowned for its' flat whites. Sincerely recommend this place!

Go try and let me know how it was! Bon appetit! xx

Hello world!

Good morning readers!

Breakfast... my favourite meal of the day! :)

Most people, when going out for a meal, choose to go out for dinner, lunch or even afternoon tea for a treat. Some even resort to going out for a simple coffee. The idea being if you are to go out and spend money on a meal, it should be a significant one in your day, so people have a tendency to choose other meals over breakfast. Such is the mentality of the Western World.

Even though physicians, nutritionists and other medical experts constantly highlight the importance of breakfast, the modern way of life has led to the formation of poor, nutritional habits whereby skipping breakfast has become the norm for a large percentage of the Western population; people give us a whole host of excuses for bypassing breakfast which we can save for another post...

Therefore, the concept of going out for breakfast, for many people, is a relatively new and alien one and this is made apparent by the fact that only relatively recently, have the owners/managers of restaurants started to pad out the breakfast sections of their menus making a wider range of options available for consumers. I too, would like to help to increase the importance of eating well at the beginning of the day, giving people various, delicious options; this being an important reason for writing this blog.

I have always loved waking up in the morning and eating a hearty meal. This love has been further intensified when I started meeting a dear, university friend for breakfast in London on a regular basis for a catch up. We call each other our 'Breakfast Buddy'. :)

We have visited quite a few, delightful places in this wonderful city for breakfast and I will be writing about our experiences here. So I hope that you will follow me as I impart my increasing knowledge on the best breakfasts London has to offer and maybe go and try them out for yourselves as well? ;)

Remember to 'Breakfast like a King!'... :)

Love and pancakes, with maple syrup on top! xx
